Recalling my first camping experience

As I lay in my bivy tent (see pix) last night listening to the bugs (what kind of bug lives in trees and sings all night, sleeps all day?) and the wind I was recalling my very first camping experience.

My friend, Pat, and I decided to go camping as we explored the Maritime provinces. She’d had a bit of experience with camping (but not much, as I recall) and I’d none. We thought Tim Horton donut holes were a pretty good breakfast, until the old guy next to us pulled out his coleman stove and made us eggs and bacon and toast. I was amazed! Course, the night before, two friendly fellows put up our tent for us and invited us onto their site for a clam bake – they’d dug up clams and that was supper. We were young, pretty, and inexperienced. We ended up never putting up the tent ourselves during the whole trip *lol* .. so, I still didn’t come away with much camping experience except the new knowledge that there was way more to it than one might imagine.

We had such a good time despite not knowing a thing about anything camp related. Our biggest question was whether they had plugs in the showers for our hair dryer. *lol*

Made me smile in the semi-dark (recall - it was a full moon last night) … thinking back to *then* as I’m doing *now*.
